Snacking With Purpose, Sustainable Procurement

Reconciliation Action Plan Focus Area: Opportunities

Listen

Members of the procurement team attend the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce events, where we uncovered opportunities for partnerships.

Learn

Through this partnership briefing we uncovered the Wuu-rri vending machines opportunity, which is cost neutral for icare and attractive due to the benefit to give back to Indigenous community.

Wuu-rri is a Gamilaroi word meaning ‘to give’. Every transaction from a Wuu-rri vending machine empowers Indigenous enterprise, through key capacity and support programs for existing businesses, and educational programs for Indigenous youth, the next generation of Indigenous entrepreneurs.

Act

The machines have been installed at our Sydney, Parramatta and Newcastle offices and feature artwork by Charmaine and Jason Mumbulla which celebrates the themes of Regionality, Trade and Reciprocity.

“We are passionate about social procurement and exploring how we can achieve synergies between procurement and the cultural sensitivities and capabilities insights gained from our First Nations Working Group. We are using these insights to develop partnerships and incorporate into the formulation of our policies and processes.” - Sustainable Procurement team
