These grants are to support a wide range of innovative research activities, from ground-breaking and investigative studies to the practical application of research findings and preventative interventions that improve health outcomes for workers affected by dust diseases.
The program funds projects across three key grant types:
- Discovery & Innovation Grants – supporting pioneering and exploratory research
- Research Translation Grants – turning research findings into practical solutions
- Dust Diseases Prevention Grants – identifying and mitigating risks to prevent occupational dust diseases.
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open and will close at 4:00pm AEST on Wednesday, 23 April.
Researchers and institutions are invited to apply for funding to support innovative research that advances knowledge, applies research insights to real-world outcomes, and addresses workplace risks to improve safety.
Britt Coombe, Group Executive of General Insurance and Care at icare emphasised the importance of these grants in fostering innovation:
“Through this funding, we’re investing in research that aims to improve outcomes for people exposed to hazardous dust through work. Whether it’s pioneering new treatments, improving workplace safety, or translating findings into policy and practice that improve workplace safety, we want to attract our greatest researchers to pursue these opportunities.”
