About Kate
"I graduated in 2006 as an Occupational Therapist and since then have worked with clients with severe, complex and catastrophic injuries across the life of their injury journey. I have experience working with clients with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and significant mental health issues. I am highly organised and have experience setting up care programs and bringing together treatment teams in urgent discharge situations.
I have skills in positive behaviour support and management. I am aware of the risks of carer burnout and understand the role of the Case manager in monitoring and highlighting the need for support to prevent burnout.
I am flexible and contactable and able to adjust to changing needs. I am highly personable and able to build rapport with clients, their family members and treatment teams to work collaboratively whilst maintaining professional boundaries. I have excellent skills in working with participants to set person-centred goals and ensuring they are realistic. I understand the impact of adjustment and acceptance on the recovery process and can facilitate access to support, as needed.
I worked as a Clinical Educator for many years so I have a strong clinical knowledge base. I have completed carer training with care agencies and teams to ensure consistency with goals and behaviour management is priority. Building teams to support my clients and evaluating their contribution to meeting the clients’ goals is something I am passionate about.
I joined Wise OT Solutions in July 2023 and our team specialises in OT and Case management for severely injured people. I am an accredited FIM assessor and have completed applications for workers care and lifetime care and enjoy supporting people to get their lives back after severe injuries. I look forward to helping you too."
